After the first download, Voice turns speech into text on your computer. Short recordings are temporary and are removed when they are used or cancelled.
Online serviceYou choose where it goes
If you turn on online mode, your audio goes to the service you choose. That service’s own privacy policy applies.
Voice can keep a small history of completed text on your computer. If your computer crashes while you are speaking, that unfinished recording is lost.

Downloads still use the older oswispa name so existing installs and links keep working. Every file has a check to confirm it arrived intact.

For Ubuntu, Debian and Fedora. Voice includes its tray and settings here. On some Linux desktops, the keyboard shortcut needs one quick extra setup step.
macOS 12+
PreviewEarly preview for Mac.
Works on Apple Silicon and Intel. It opens in Terminal for now, rather than from a menu bar. Your Mac will ask for microphone and accessibility permission, and Apple does not yet recognise it as a signed app.
Windows / x86-64
PreviewEarly preview for Windows.
Unzip it and keep its window open while you use it. There is no installer or tray icon yet, and Windows may ask you to confirm the download.
What we have tested: clean test computers can install and launch these files. You will still need to test your microphone, shortcut and permissions on your own device.

Useful answers
A few honest answers.
Does my voice stay on my computer?
By default, yes. You can choose an online service instead, but only if you turn that option on.
Does it control my computer?
No. MorpheOS Voice writes text; it does not take actions or control other apps for you.
Does it learn from what I say?
No. It does not learn automatically. You can choose to add names and phrases that matter to you.
Why do downloads still say oswispa?
MorpheOS Voice used to be called OSWispa. Keeping the old technical names for now means existing users keep their settings, shortcuts and downloaded speech files.
Is this made by OpenAI?
No. MorpheOS Voice is an independent open-source project. It can use an online service you choose, but it is not made by or affiliated with OpenAI.
